FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) has appointed Rick Glankler to the newly created position of President of Commercial Operations. Glankler will report to FMNA CEO, Jennifer Mullin, and will be a key member of her senior management team in the company’s Burbank, CA headquarters.
In this new role, Glankler will oversee the company’s strategy/business development, helping Mullin to identify potential investment opportunities, and mergers and acquisitions that best complement both FMNA and the overall FremantleMedia core businesses. Glankler will also shepherd FMNA’s ancillary businesses including licensing, sponsorship and branded content, identifying new opportunities for growth and partnerships. FMNA’s marketing/communications functions will fall under Glankler, who will guide the teams to advance the company’s overall messaging and branding for its extensive scripted and unscripted portfolios. In addition, Glankler will oversee and provide strategic insight to FMNA’s vintage game show digital multicast network, BUZZR, as well as the company’s overall digital/social media efforts.
“Rick has been a huge asset to FremantleMedia since joining the company in 2013. His passion and dedication to the business has brought with it enormous results,” said Jennifer Mullin, CEO, FremantleMedia North America. “Rick has exceptional vision and a proven track record of being able to build businesses and make strategic alliances. It’s with great admiration that I welcome him to the FMNA team.”
“I am excited to continue my journey with the FremantleMedia family and look forward to the new challenges and opportunities this role will bring,” said Glankler. “With a phenomenal line-up of some of the most proven brands in entertainment and a vast array of new projects coming down the pipeline that are attracting the best talent in the industry, it’s a truly amazing time to be joining FremantleMedia North America.”
Glankler originally joined FremantleMedia in 2013 and was recently the President/General Manager of the company’s Kids & Family Entertainment (FMK) division, overseeing all areas of the global business including development, production, consumer products, TV sales and brand management. Reporting to FremantleMedia’s Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Emerging Markets, Sangeeta Desai, Glankler grew the overall FMK portfolio to become a leading producer in kids’ entertainment, with cherished brands such as Danger Mouse, Kate & Mim-Mim and Bitz & Bob. With Glankler successfully driving the strategy and creative vision for FMK, earlier this year, FremantleMedia announced that it would sell the division to the global entertainment company, Boat Rocker Media.
Glankler originally joined FremantleMedia from Mattel/Fisher Price, where he was a Senior Vice President of HIT Entertainment, overseeing their properties within the Fisher-Price division. Glankler’s brand, licensing and production leadership helped to build some of the most successful kids’ global franchises ever – including Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Angelina Ballerina and Mike the Knight. Earlier in his career, Glankler held positions with market leading companies such as PepsiCo, Kraft and J. Walter Thompson.
Glankler’s new role as President of Commercial Operations for FMNA is effective immediately.
